You will receive an email or text message reminder for your appointment one week before and 24 hours before your appointment.
In-person appointments
In-person appointments are conducted in the clinic. You are expected to be accompanied by your child to the clinic for your scheduled appointment. please arrive 5-10 minutes early to allow time for weight and height measurement. Our clinic operates on time. If you are late, your appointment will either be cancelled or shortened.
Virtual appointments
While virtual appointments may be much easier, not all appointments can be virtual. To have a successful virtual appointment you need to:
Be in a private space (not in a coffee shop, in transit, etc.)
Not be driving
Zoom appointments
Telehealth appiontments are conducted online via Zoom and is equivalent to an in-person appointment. They will not be completed if you are in transit of any kind, or in public area. You are required to find a quiet and secure space to have the appointment with your child present, unless discussed with your Pediatrician.
Telephone appointments
Telephone appointments are conducted via phone calls and is equivalent to an in-person appointment. They will not be completed if you are in transit of any kind, or in public area. You are required to find a quiet and secure space to have the appointment with your child present, unless discussed with your Pediatrician.
What to know about your appointment
At Groundwork Medical Clinic, we want to give you our full attention during your visit. To help us do this, some of our providers use software tools to transcribe what is said during the visit and then uses artificial intelligence to generate the most accurate and detailed documentation possible.
We're excited about this because it helps us focus completely on you, not on the computer screen. It also helps create accurate, complete notes, which is important for high-quality care. Importantly, no audio or video of your visit is ever recorded or saved. Your provider always reviews, edits, and approves every note to make sure it's 100% accurate before it's added to your chart.
Your privacy is our priority. We take protecting you and your family's information very seriously. We use secure, trusted partners that meet all B.C. and Canadian privacy laws and regulatory requirements. All your information stays in Canada and is protected with the same security as the rest of your medical record.

Cancellations or changing appointment format
Cancellations made with less than 48 hours notice will be considered a no-show (weekends are not included); you will need to call the clinic to rebook the appointment which may take some time. Multiple no-shows will require a re-referral
No show for appointments
If you are absent for your confirmed appointment, it is up to the discretion of the clinician if or when the appointment will be rescheduled. We are all busy parents and understand how complicated life can get, but patients usually wait a long time to see us, so if you cannot attend your appointment, please let us know so other patients can be seen.
If you are absent for more than 2 appointments in a row, for either telehealth, telephone or in person, you will be required to obtain a re-referral and will be added to the waiting list again.
